The Room

 

In Van Gogh's "Room" we can understand the differences between being and being seen. Through Drawing, we see what the artist "sees". We exist in the artist. We transcend. We are for a moment Van Gogh in that room in Arles.

The artist portrays his vision of everyday life, transmuting that daily life into an object worthy of being seen. I was interested in this painting insofar as it illustrates how art has a function of Transcendence.
